Pietro Ferrero Died

Think of the type of things people become famous for. Just what does it take to be classified as a tycoon like the Hiltons?

Italy’s Pietro Ferrero was just that. And what for? He owned the Ferrero group, which owns Nutella and Kinder.

So now, every time you go for some Nutella on crackers or bread, you can think of Pietro, who died after falling off his bicycle.

Ferrero succeeded his father and grandfather, who started the Ferrero group in 1942.

Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini told BBC, “Italy has lost a businessman who represented the best qualities of our economic history.”

Ferrero, along with his father and grandfather, held much esteem in the country that has been plagued by harsh economic times, especially in the more rural south.

Ferrero is certainly on the better end of the level of social stratification in the country, but he will be missed by his compatriots.

BBC reports that the Ferrero company makes $9.4 billion a year.

Nutella was truly an innovative product that the company helped go international. It was a success and the chocolate tycoons took off in Italy and the United States.
