Ok, so…
“police say that if there is any possession, distribution or use of marijuana or paraphernalia in the process, there will be a crack down on those participating.”

However, the law clearly protects patients and caregivers in these cases, as long as you stay within the limits. So what the hell?

Police are using their time and resources WATCHING for people using marijuana while assults, thefts, rapes, and vandalism go UNSEEN.

Maybe your readers who want this event to happen should let the Mayor know. He appears to be against this event that will bring a ton of revenue to that cities restaurants, hotels adn other business’s.

Detroit will vote in November to legalize the possession of small amounts of marijuana on personal property for folks age 21 and over come November 2010.

I hope my kids don’t use marijuana, either as teenagers or as young adults, but if they do, I REALLY hope they don’t end up in jail! I hope that all parents will join in the fight to stop putting our own kids in jail over something as silly as marijuana. Yes, it dumbs a person down for a little while (about as bad as a day on the video games) and yes, it has some minor health effects (about as bad as smoking a cigarette, I suppose), but those aren’t NEARLY as bad as the effects of being locked up IN JAIL WITH THE SEXUAL PREDATORS, and loss of financial aid, etc. that comes, not from the marijuana, but from the LAW. It’s time to quit letting government officials ruin our kids’ lives over a little marijuana!

“City Hall meetings have been held about the possible move to close down the planned get-together.”

They might want to re-think that move in light of the First Amendment (note the part about “the right of the people to peaceably assemble…)
